Several common damage types of cylindrical roller bearings

Cylindrical roller bearings are composed of two major categories, which are widely used due to their own particularities and the incomparable superiority of other bearings. So what are the damage forms of cylindrical roller bearings? The following is a detailed introduction.

Cylindrical roller bearing and inner and outer ring raceway surface wear and peeling: This will cause the radial clearance and axial clearance of the cylindrical roller bearing to increase, the cylindrical roller bearing emits noise and heat during operation, and changes its mating shaft Vibration occurs in the correct working position. The initial stage of surface fatigue peeling is the appearance of pitting on the surface, which develops into a flaky surface layer. The rolling elements of the bearing and the raceway surfaces of the inner and outer rings are both subjected to cyclic pulsating loads, resulting in periodically changing contact stresses. When the number of stress cycles reaches a certain number, fatigue spalling occurs on the working surfaces of the rolling elements or inner and outer ring raceways. If the bearing load is too large, this fatigue will increase. In addition, if the bearing is installed incorrectly and the shaft is bent, the raceway may peel off. Fatigue spalling of the bearing raceway will reduce the running accuracy of the shaft and cause vibration and noise.  

Wear of the mating surfaces of the inner and outer rings: This is because the inner and outer rings of the cylindrical roller bearing are not assembled well with the shaft and the housing hole, which destroys the matching relationship between the bearing and the housing, the bearing and the shaft, and further accelerates the bearing itself and its mating The wear of the mating surface of the shaft or housing is commonly known as the inner ring or the outer ring.  

Isolation ring wear and looseness: In work, the isolation ring and rolling elements (balls, rollers, etc.) rub against each other. If the lubrication is not good, the wear will be accelerated. After the isolation ring is worn out, the rolling elements will become loose, which may cause the isolation ring to fall apart and the rolling elements to fall off in severe cases. 

Burns: If the lubrication is poor or the lubricating oil does not meet the requirements, and the roller bearing gap is adjusted too small, the bearing will quickly heat up during operation, and the working surface will be annealed due to high temperature. When observing the surface, it can be found that the color of the working surface of the thin-walled cylindrical roller bearing has changed.  

Plastic deformation: If uneven pits appear on the contact surface between the raceway and the roller, it indicates that the cylindrical roller bearing has undergone plastic deformation. The reason is that the local stress on the working surface of the bearing exceeds the yield limit of the material under a large static load or impact load. This situation generally occurs on low-speed rotating bearings.  

Race cracks and cage cracks: The reasons for the cracks in the cylindrical roller bearing races may be the tight fitting of the bearing, the looseness of the outer or inner ring of the bearing, the deformation of the bearing housing, and the poor processing of the surface where the roller bearing is installed. . The reasons for cage chipping are insufficient lubrication, broken rolling elements, skewed seat ring and so on. Severe wear of the raceway of the seat ring may be caused by foreign matter falling into the seat ring, insufficient lubricating oil, etc.
